APERTO COLLECTIVE, (Montpellier, FR)
Next Exit
25 Jan 2017—11 Feb 2017

In 2016, the TCB board members exhibited at Aperto gallery in Montpellier as part of its on going exchange with artist run spaces internationally. In exchange, tcb art Inc. is proud to showcase Next Exit, an exhibition by Aperto Collective from Aperto Gallery, in Melbourne.

Next Exit is an exhibition that deals with the aspects of collective work by considering the problems that are at play within processes of cooperation and asking questions such as: how are ideas born and how do they die? How are they positioned within an artistic collective? The working protocols that we try to establish are in an attempt to develop collective thought through the experimentation of political-poetic correlations. Ideas are by nature corrosive, able to freely circulate and further develop in contact with other ideas.

Works in this show present a sedimentation of diverse processes in the form of a projected video work and a series of landscape drawings. The collective’s individual and intellectual works are constructed over time and in parallel to the activities of the Aperto gallery.

Aperto Collective includes eight artists: Pierre Bellemin, Didier Casiglio, Emmanuelle Etienne, Agnes Fornells, Christelle Grandon, Alain Lapierre, Nicolas Lebrun and Michel Martin. Next Exit has also been contributed to by invited artist Eric Delayen. Over the last ten years, Aperto collective has shown its work in various locations such as Forbach, Orléans, New York, Paris, Liege and Belgrade.
