ALICE MCINTOSH & LORILEE YANG
Sundries
11 Nov 2015—28 Nov 2015
Sundries is an exhibition by Alice McIntosh and Lorilee Yang that examines how we create when there is already so much in the world. In the midst of the nonsense and noise that one is faced with on an everyday basis we find ways of digesting and processing information through idiosyncratic means. Abundance allows for very defined choices, leaving many materials and images as surplus and as remnants. These surplus things lurk faded in obsolescent shopfront windows or amongst remnants intended for the bin. Sieving through that which is has been discarded or dismissed amidst the masses we find new narratives in materials and in images. It is through accumulations, agglomerations and isolations that we discover methods in which we compile our understandings of the world.
Lorilee Yang completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at VCA in 2014. Since then she has had a solo show at ACCA Upstarts, Rubicon ARI and has an upcoming exhibition at Bus Projects
Alice McIntosh completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) at VCA in 2014.
