ANNA VARENDORFF & HAIMA MARRIOTT
Bouba
11 Feb 2015—28 Feb 2015
Anna Varendorff and Haima Marriott have orchestrated a place of interaction. In a space spilling with coloured light, Varendorff’s brass structures offer up the opportunity to interact. They begin to murmur as one approaches and as you get closer Marriott’s sound work seeps out into the space, crescendoing upon touch. Immersive, the work offers sound and shadow as a demarcation of the activity of the visitor. The latency of the room is established to offer change when a body enters it and interacts with the work. It is a space of opportunity.
Bouba. Sounding round. Sound around.
Anna Varendorff has completed an MFA at Monash University, and has exhibited at Craft Victoria, c3 Contemporary Art Space, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Anna Pappas, etc. Haima Marriott is a music producer and sound artist.
