Charles O’Loughlin’s practice reclaims the information produced by living as a method to generate visual form. O’Loughlin records, catalogues and archives the routine and demands of daily life. Social relationships, places, actions and feelings are treated with detached analytical methodology. The resulting inventory is quantified and the numerical results used to determine form
Charles O’Loughlin lives and works in Melbourne. He completed a Bachelor of Arts, Fine Art at RMIT University (2002), a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts (2007), and is currently undertaking a PhD at RMIT University. He has previously exhibited at Block Projects, Melbourne; Bus Projects, Melbourne; Enjoy Public Art Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand.
