EMMA NICOLE BERRY
a week long waiting room
07 Mar 2026—29 Mar 2026

Opening:
Saturday 7th March, 6 - 8 PM

Walk the perimeter a few times, pick up sticks

left blundstone suffocating
a swelling ankle

The cockatoos fly home at dinner time,

They're like the the trams after midnight

returning to to the brunswick depot - Screaming chained to their steel path
I'll only have a few hours now to sleep
before they begin their return into the
world,

they make it sound like agony. But I'm forever envious
of their stable route back.

in

    missing the mark again

I tripped onto a different floundering path

derailed ,     thrown into a week long

waiting room

treason by tibia and fibula, their refusal to

stay in line

germinates this float backwards

you have to go slow

to go fast,

in the rip of tramadol time, wrapped in

plastic,

And I will for

wandering back on track.

***

sharks can’t swim backwards

and experiencing my own lesson

to never turn back

the brake’s been pulled in

the break

and flailing doesn’t seem so consequential

as it did when I was twenty five

It’s all a cascade of circumstance,

pull out a fresh

        size 14

boys bonds chesty

And crack open a red peroni,

and will not to drop the cake this time

***

Dragged by a fox and

pilfered by kestrals

a kangaroo’s hind leg lays in the new

sprouting grass

the tendons intact & leathery from the spring

sun

Little rain    but it will come

I want to remove the bone, take it as a vice

Because I

                    lack such a strong hind
