HENRY JOCK WALKER
SOMETHINGLAND
30 May 2012—16 Jun 2012
‘The touch of a rail turns a shuv into a board varial and, since proper shuvs are so tough to do above the lip without a grab, we’re in varial territory here.’*
This exhibition will include live performance, a site specific- video- painting- installation, board-art paintings, posters and sculpture.
The work in Somethingland is born as a junction between art and surfing, drawing on legacies and histories of painting, performance, surfing action and culture. The beach as liminal zone between land and sea provides an intriguing context for painting- performance, surf action experimentation. Welcome to Somethingland an experience, an aquatic adventure through a multi disciplinary action extravaganza.
Henry Jock Walker is currently living and working in Melbourne, Henry divides his time between Adelaide and Melbourne. He has exhibited in Adelaide artist run space Felt and at the Australian Experimental Art foundation. Henry recently completed a bachelor of fine art (honours) at the Victorian College of Art.
