JULIA GORMAN
Boundaries
22 Oct 2014—09 Nov 2014
For Julia Gorman’s show “Boundaries”, she has produced a group of 20 or so small but intense paintings on boards. The paintings contain awkward juxtapositions of mis-matched areas, as if several paintings are being forced to coexist within the same work. When seen they should come together as a dynamic and confusing, but overall make an harmonious whole.
Julia Gorman has been a practising artist in Melbourne for quite a few years now, ever since graduating from RMIT (with Hons) back in 1995. She has exhibited in big and small art galleries in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as Brisbane and other places in Australia and overseas. She was included in the NGV’s “Melbourne Now”, and her large scale 2 part wall drawing “Growth Habits”, is on display at the Geelong Gallery until mid next year.
This exhibition has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
