KATHERINE HUANG
Small parts in the garden ah-ha
05 Oct 2016—22 Oct 2016

The small sculptures on the floor for TCB follows my travels to Texas and Paris in 2015 and 2016. In Texas, there was a thing on display outside the hardware shop, too heavy to take, it was remade small in Melbourne. In Paris, I looked at casts at the Cité de l’architecture & du Patrimoine, a museum by chance embossed on one of the found objects cast for this show. For TCB, there are space demarcating objects which engage with the figuration of the garden and the act of collecting and making as digging up parts and putting the fragments together.Katherine Huang completed a BFA Honours at The VCA in 1998 and a PhD at Monash University in 2012. A finalist in The Moët & Chandon Fellowship in 1999, received The Australia Council New York Studio 2004, Gertrude Contemporary studio artist 2005 and 2006, Primavera, The MCA, 2006, The Qantas Art Prize 2008, the Y3K curated Biennial 2011, the 2012 and 2013 Hong Kong Art Fairs, Spring 1883 in 2014, and the Paris Studio 2016. Katherine is represented by Neon Parc. Her works are in private and public collections including The ArtBank, James Mollison, and The Holmesglen Collection.
