MILLI JANNIDES (NZ)
ZIG-ZAG TRAIL
17 Jun 2015—07 Jul 2015
The zig-zag trail is a group of new oil paintings by Milli Jannides. These paintings pick up on threads of imagery she has left behind her (or ahead?) and, like clues discovered and then forgotten again, together they lead the way. The easiest way to climb a mountain is the zig-zag, and this is the chosen mode of the new work. There will be some clear cut shapes drawn out of the murk, unstable weather conditions, and paths for the eye to tread.
Milli Jannides (1986, Sydney) graduated from the Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland, in 2009 and completed her MFA at the Royal College of Art, London, in 2013. Exhibitions include: Sound Bow, Johan Berggren Gallery, Malmö; As the Light Dips, Hopkinson Mosmman, Auckland; Method & Gesture, Utopian Slumps, Melbourne; Part Two Soft Eyes, TCB, Melbourne; and Hermes’ lack of words, Artspace, Auckland. She is currently based in Berlin.
This exhibition has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
