Your Melting

"Your Melting" offers the opportunity to reflect on the passing of time and our vital interconnection with our planet’s natural systems. Humans have a dependant relationship with water and ice: however, summer artic sea ice has been shrinking by 12.6% per decade and glaciers are receding. In this installation, melting ice is a marker of passing time, each drip reinforces its passage, with the future “death” of the ice constantly present and the melt water representing the past. In her art practice, Sally Vivian often works with ephemerality, materiality, light and reflection and embodied perception.
