THE KENNETH BIENNALE
06 Jun 2013—22 Jun 2013

Amy May Stuart, Caleb Shea, Charlie Sofo, Elizabeth Gower, Jack Hooper-Bell, Jessie Hall, Kenny Pittock, Minna Gilligan, Tom Polo, Toby Pola & Darren Munce

Recently 24 year old Melbourne artist Kenny Pittock realised that Venice rhymes with Kenneth “Well, sort of, if you kind of mumble when you’re saying it and you have a bit of a lisp like I do”. That’s all there is to it really, the rest is pretty obvious — once you figure out that your name rhymes with Venice, the next logical step is to put on a biennale. Occurring at the same time as the Venice Biennale, the Kenneth Biennale is held simultaneously across three galleries (VCA Margaret Lawrence Gallery, TCB artinc and Rearview), with three openings occurring over the space of a week.

In the spirit of having a “Show”, sometime during April, 2013 Kenny Pittock completed his life long dream and bought 100 Bertie Beetle showbags from the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Kenny Pittock then lugged the bags all the way back to Melbourne. The first 50 people to the TCB opening get a free Bertie Beetle Bag, and the first fifty people to the Rearview opening, will  also get a Bertie Beetle bag. The Bertie Beetle bag, in 2013 celebrating it’s 50th anniversary, contains 4 Bertie Beetles, two Redskins, two Milkos and a lollypop.
